Sarge's Animal Resue Foundation's Pet Photography Contest generated 133 entries. "We were so pleased that we had entries not only from our area," said Nancy Bulluck who co-founded Sarge's, "but pet owners sent their photos from Asheville and Murphy, NC, and one each from Texas and Michigan!" "In fact," Nancy said, "we had to expand the number of categories to accommodate all the photos that were sent to us."

The $10 entry fee from all participants will be applied to Sarge's fund to buy land on which to build an adoption center for rescued animals in Haywood County.

The photos with captions are on display at the WNC Visitors Center through Sunday, February 18. "The photographs range from beautifully constructed works of art to amusing, candid photos of donkeys, foals, cats and dogs," said Cynthia Morris, publicity volunteer.

Judges who donated their time were Michael Rich, Seatofmypants Productions, Leonard Lollis of Ball & Chain Gallery, and Jennifer Uhl-Ford, professional photographer. " All of the judges expressed their delight at the number of photographs submitted," said Cynthia.
