Annual Happy Tails Golf Tournament to benefit Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation at Laurel Ridge Country Club

On Thursday, April 17, Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville will host a golf tournament benefit for Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation.

The 2nd annual Happy Tails Golf Tournament will begin at 1:00 pm with a four-person captain's choice format. Registration begins at 11:30am. A boxed lunch and 2 dinner passes will be provided for each golfer. Awards will be presented immediately following the tournament. John Roten, Program Director and Morning Show host for am1400the Peak will be the emcee. Dinner will be catered by J. Arthur's restaurant and served in the Pavillion after the awards presentations.

Registration forms are available at the Laurel Ridge Country Club Pro Shop, Maggie Valley Club Pro Shop, Mountain Dreams Realty in Maggie Valley, Bob's Sports Store in Waynesville, Canton Animal Hospital, on the website www.sargeandfriends.org or by calling 828-508-3300.


"Dwayne Page and his staff did a wonderful job last year in setting up the tournament and making the golfers and Sarge's volunteers feel welcome," said Barbara Buck, Fundraising Chairperson, "We had many compliments from the golfers," continued Buck, "regarding their gifts, goody bags and the delicious dinner." Each golfer will receive a free Magique golf bag. The Buick Enclave, a luxury crossover vehicle, will be the prize for a hole-in-one on #10. Other holes-in-one prizes are a Bose Wave Music System, Dell Computer and a set of Hogan irons.

"We will be contacting our sponsors from last year," said Doyle Teague, Sarge's Board President, "to ask them if they will again support this fundraising effort to further Sarge's mission to build an adoption center. , Sarge's volunteers rescued almost 500 animals from euthanasia last year from the Haywood County animal facility. We will save many more animals when we can raise enough money to build the adoption center."

Returning sponsors to date are The Mountaineer, Clear Channel radio stations WMXF am1400 the Peak- WQNS Rock 104.9 and Harbor Capital Management.

Rosa Allomong, Board Vice President, added "We will be out in the community seeking new sponsors, as well. Sponsors will receive signs at tees on the course and be recognized in the events of the day program and in all printed material relating to sponsors."
