All crafters are invited to join volunteers of Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation at its “Smoky Mountain Christmas” workshop each Friday at 10:00am at the WNC Visitors Center in Frog Level in Waynesville.
Barbara Buck heads up the group which is making items to sell at a “Christmas in July” fundraiser. Barbara, assisted by Joanne Gregory, is planning several projects for any and all crafters. According to Nancy Bulluck, “The varying levels of experience were evident in the comments overhead during the workshop: ’What on earth is a glue gun?’, ‘Put a pinecone at north, south, east and west,’ ‘Don’t get the glue on your hand—it’s hot.”
Although “Christmas in July” is the theme for the workshop, crafts are not limited to just Christmas items. Lovely gift items are being created and they include fall, summer and Halloween themed wreathes and accessories.
The group got a good start on March 2 on their first projects, and the work sessions are not only productive but also fun. Connie Belon, M.J. Gibbons, Erna Lundgren and Nancy Bulluck attended the first work sessions with Barbara and Joanne.
