Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation is the first recipient awarded the $1000 Community Partner Grant from The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation. Sarge's was nominated to receive this gift by the staff of the Waynesville/Wells Fargo store.

"It was very exciting for our whole team to be able to vote for the organization that would receive the donation," said Karen Morrow, Store Manager. "We have a lot of animal lovers at the bank," continued Morrow, "and about 80% of the votes were for Sarge's."

The Community Partner Giving Program was conceived by Wachovia Wells Fargo as a way to enable its stores to contribute to their local communities.

"Sarge's is very appreciative of this donation from Wachovia Wells Fargo," said Rosa Allomong, President of Sarge's Board of Directors. "Sarge's transport van was recently totaled in a wreck and we're incurring rental fees to transport dogs and cats from the shelter to rescue groups. Some of this money will help to defray those costs. Our biggest expenditure, however, is for medical needs for the animals we rescue. Therefore, a portion of this gift will help to pay for medicines and vaccinations for the animals we save from the Haywood County Animal Control Facility."
