Holiday Giving Trees for Sarge's
Press Release 12/2/08
Cynthia Morris

Want to help those that can't help themselves this Christmas? Check out Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundations's Holiday Giving Trees found at five locations in Waynesville.

The trees are located at The Dog House, 304 N. Haywood Street; Bocelli's Italian Restaurant, 319 N. Haywood Street; Blue Ridge Books, News & Café, 152 N. Main Street, Junaluska Animal Hospital, 3248 Asheville Highway and the new Sarge headquarters at 256B Industrial Park Drive in West Waynesville.

"The trees have gift tags with items printed on them that Sarge's needs to take care of the animals in foster care that have been saved from the county shelter," said Kristin Moro-Coleman who originated the Giving Tree concept. "The gifts range from treats, blankets, and toys, to much needed cat and dog food. Sarge's is also asking for monetary donations on some of the tags to cover medical expenses for the cats and dogs. "The gifts will also be used for animals Sarge's transports to kennels in the northeast and to breed rescues as well as for the dogs and cats taken from the shelter for adoption days," continued Moro-Coleman.

The gifts are left at the locations of the trees where Moro-Coleman will pick them up.

"We hope that any shoppers in the vicinity of these locations will stop by to pick up a gift tag," said Doyle Teague, Sarge's Board President. "The items donated last year were very helpful in our efforts to give these dogs and cats happier lives."
