Rescue Tails: Savannah

Savannah is a purebred Bloodhound who had been neglected during a marital breakup. She was brought reluctantly to the shelter by her owner, who had moved out of the family home into a residence where she could not have her animals. Savannah, although emaciated, was super sweet and just tore at everyone's heart who met her. A Search and Rescue Group from a neighboring TN county offered her a place with them, where she would have been cared for and would have done what she was born to do - track. But, at the same time, a Rottweiller rescue on the coast saw Savannah's photo and story on Petfinder.com. This group, although specializing in another breed, had previously rescued a Bloodhound near death, nursed her back to health and the founder had made her a family pet. After showing me the progress made with that dog, there was no question in my mind where five-year-old Savannah would go........ she deserved life as a couch potato too! Just 2-1/2 weeks later, Savannah was in her forever home with no trace left of the shadow of a dog she had been in our shelter....Donna Lindsey, Breed Rescue Coordinator
