Nina is a Chihuahua mix, one of a litter that was saved by SARF last winter. She now lives in Fairfax, VA with her adoptive mom, Suzette Illig.
"We loved the that you sent that pic of Nina's Big Brother. Here's some to show him of his Li'l Sister... he might appreciate that she burps
like a "Big Dog." And, if you still have the cat that Nina fostered with, you can tell her that Nina acts more like a kitten than a dog most times.
She slithers up against our legs, makes purring noises when you rub her neck, likes to curl up on our laps, and actually meows when she yawns."
Update 2/1/09: "I'm not sure if I told you or not but we got Nina a little amigo since she would often cry when we'd leave for work and school. She's no longer a lonely girl with her little sister, Ruby.
Nina is such an easy going pooch. She makes everyone smile, never bites, never barks, and never gets into trouble (and she's teaching her little sister not to do these naughty things). Nina has just earned her therapy dog vest and we have started making rounds at the local nursing homes and hopefully we will be okayed to visit oncology kids soon. We're so proud of her!"
Update 12/10: "With each passing year, we always remember you fondly for being Nina's first mom and for allowing us to adopt her. Nina is doing great. She is still working as a Therapy Dog where she is loved by her patients. Attached is a picture of her at a Hospice Hospital with a patient... that was formerly one of my patients at my hospital where I work as an RN. The patient had stage 4 cancer that had metasticized to his brain and lungs and he enjoyed an hour long visit with Nurse Nina who also enjoyed his petting and kind words."
